Literacy
These topics will be covered during September:
  • Ice breaking (know the home room teacher and their classmates).
  • Knowing our community (Introduce the classroom rules and displays).
  • Introducing themselves by writing (All about me sheet).
  • Revise colours,food items and places.
  • Know more about their teacher and talk about their summer vacation.
  • Write about the activities they did in their summer vacation.
  • Storytelling and discussion.
  • Knowing what is a meaningful sentence.
                                                Maths
These topics will be covered during September
  • Revise the numbers (0-50).
  •  Revise even and odd.
  • Revise the numbers (50-100).
  • Consolidate recognising the value of each digit in a two-digit number (tens, ones).
  • Represent numbers using base 10 material.
  •  Consolidate partitioning two-digit numbers in varied ways. (tens, ones).
  • Recognising the place value of each digit number (hundred, tens, and ones). 3 digit numbers.
  • Compare and order numbers up to 1000.

Literacy

These topics will be covered during October:

  • Describe an experience they have had of moving house or country, or visiting a new place.
  • Talk about how the experience made them feel.
  • Imagine experiences and feelings they would have if they moved to a new place.
  • Choose interesting words to describe places and feelings.
  • Discuss the meaning of new words.
  • Be able to identify the story's setting and main characters.
  • Predict how the story might end.
  • Talk about what happens in the beginning , middle and end of the story.
  • Take part in a role-play to extend their understanding.
  • Find adjectives in a story.
  • Choose interesting words to describe a setting.

Maths

These topics will be covered during October:

  •  Add mentally two-digit numbers.
  •  Subtract mentally two digit numbers.
  •  Recognise and name 3D shapes lying in any position.
  •  Make models of 3-D shapes using straws and 2-D shapes.
  •  Sort and describe 3-D shapes.
  •  Build 3-D shapes with cubes.
  •  Count in multiples and steps of 2, 3, 5 and 10.
  •  Recall the multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 ad 10 multiplication tables.
